The only desert in Europe, surrounded by the ancient Mediterranean Sea, has become the home of art.

Cabo de Gata, located in the southeast of Spain, is the coastline that best preserves the essence of the Mediterranean. That is  why in the last 40 years it has become the home of artists of many disparate nationalities. Here, seven of them, from different countries and areas of art, have found freedom. Here, they work, create and find inspiration and enjoyment, on the shores of a sea of crystalline waters with seabeds of great beauty. By day, the extraordinary light reveals this unique desert in all its rawness and by night the duende of music and flamenco dance wakes up with all its energy. This place is its inspiration.

Science and indigenous wisdom, two cosmologies work together to preserve the largest jungle in the world.

The long-standing friendship between Javier Lobón, a CSIC researcher, and the great curaca Uitoto Ama Hitoma, has made  it possible to hold a conference on the dialogue between science and indigenous culture. Through spectacular images of the most extensive jungle on the planet, representatives of different indigenous ethnic groups, convey in their own voice the current conflicts, their joyful vitality, and their concern for the future of their children. Little by little, we perceive the freshness  of indigenous wisdom, deeply connected, as always to the conservation of the Amazon.

Just like us, birds also need service areas to take a break in the middle of their long journeys.

Down they flock from the sky. They stay for a while in their service stations located halfway between the North Pole and the equator. Some stay for only a few hours to rest and then continue on their long journey. Others come here to have their young, or to spend the cold months of winter.

Millions of birds whose homeland extends from northern Europe to sub-Saharan Africa need these wetlands to survive. Throughout the year we discover an incredible variety of stories- scenes of quarreling, tenderness and fun and games. The species may change, with different behaviour patterns and life cycles, but there ́s always something happening in the wetlands of the Mediterranean; real service stations for birds.
